Temporary marketing expertise: when you don’t want a new hire

Not ready to hire on a new full or part-time employee? Here are two reasons companies hire me as a short-term marketing or marketing communications director instead of going through the whole hiring process:

New company or division: If you’re a start-up, you probably don’t have the budget to hire a marketing director, even though you really need one to help drive marketing strategy and planning towards those first key sales. My experience with entrepreneurial companies and new product launches jumpstarts your marketing without the big investment in time and benefits of a full-time hire.

Temporarily replace needed employees: If you’re a small to mid-sized company, chances are you’re missing a few key marketing staff because of maternity leave, retired or resigned employees. Things have gone okay — crazy busy, but okay — until now. You’ve got a new initiative, new service or product launch and no one to take charge of it. I work with corporate marketing departments to fill these types of short-term (less than a year) roles, whether it’s for a marketing director, marketing communications manager or in-house copywriter.

If you need a temporary marketing or marketing communications employee, I can help under these circumstances:

  1. Business-to-business marketing: My marketing focus is business-to-business, so if you need someone to market consumer products, I am not the right fit (sorry)
  2. Virtual or Colorado-based: I work in the Denver-Boulder metropolitan area of Colorado, so I can be on-site if you’re located where I am. Otherwise, I work virtually with as-needed travel to your location

If you’re not sure whether you need a temporary marketing director, contact me. You might only need my help with managing a marketing project. You can also learn about other services I offer, including web content writing, copywriting plus training and seminars on marketing and web content/usability topics.
